Act In The World
We have to act in the world to understand it.
These words from neuroscientist, Beau Lotto’s book Deviate are becoming increasingly important.
They are the second half of a sentence that begins with “true knowledge is when information becomes embodied understanding”.
We are becoming increasingly obsessed with information for information’s sake: immediately available and abundant, it doesn’t seem to matter if it is right or wrong, or whether it is meaningful, understandable and applicable.
Spit out the answer and move on.
For me, I will continue to ‘act in the world’ and seek understanding, meaning and wisdom.
It’s what being human is all about, don’t you agree?
