What’s The Point?

What’s the point?

It is a question that we all ask about one thing or another at different times in our work and lives.

It is a useful exercise to reflect on why we do the things we do, how they serve us, and what we might need, or want, to change.

In the opening chapter of his latest book, What to Make of a Life, author Jim Collins reflected on the enormity of the research undertaken for the book, saying:

the whole point is to discover, to be surprised, to come to see the world and how it works differently than you did before.

Learning. Growing. Transforming.

They show up as the point of many of our pursuits.

Just as other times we find joy and happiness, sustenance and survival, health and wellbeing, and more are our purpose.

Whatever the answer may be, the question remains vital as we navigate our way through work and life.

I’m curious, how would you answer when asked, what’s the point?
