The Day I Needed

The day I needed

may not meet with expectations, 

or the norm,

or any of the unwritten ‘rules’ that lead to 

a big bunch of ‘shoulds’.

The day I needed,

though,

is the day I got.

With a smile on my face,

and joy in my heart,

I choose 

not to live

by other people’s rules.

I do not need permission.

Nor do you.
