Slowing Down

Slowing down.

What if we were to slow down … a little, or a lot?

Author Bayo Akomolafe reminds us of the African saying:

the times are urgent; let us slow down.

Everywhere we turn in our work and lives things feel urgent. We are galloping through our lists, our days, and our lives. The cult of productivity has us build our success and our worth on how much we achieve.  And so we continue to move at break-neck speed.

There is little time for thought, care and reflection;

or space for connection.

It doesn’t seem to matter if things are done well, or right,

as long as they are finished, and ticked off the list.

We continue to push for productivity and profit above people, planet and purpose.

There is much that is important and urgent. There is much that is not.

Slowing down, focusing on what matters, and giving it our all might just the a change worth making, don’t you agree?!
