Seeking Novelty

Novelty is good for our brains.

This may not be a novel statement for many of us. When I read this headline in a journal recently, it got me thinking about how often I seek out novelty.

Reading far and wide.

Conversations embedded with questions.

Observing new (or new to me) things in my everyday environments.

Play and experimentation in my work and life.

All of which helps to remain curious and interested, to join the dots, find new answers to existing challenges, to remember, learn and grow.

Most of the novelty seeking our brains partake in goes without notice. I’m curious how we might intentionally seek out the novelty to keep our brains happy and healthy.
