Have you thought about stopping?
Having recently passed my 2,500th daily drip, this is a reasonable question to have been asked.
My ‘not really’ response doesn’t tell the whole story.
The original questioner was curious to know if I felt I had come too far to stop now, how it is related to my work, and what if I run out of ideas. All of which are interesting things to explore.
Yes, 2,500 plus daily posts represents almost 7 years of writing. It is a long time but it isn’t the time and numbers that drive me. What began as an experiment and challenge has become an integral daily practice in curiosity, observation and thinking. It is a ritual that culminates the inputs and outputs of each interesting and varied day in my life; an amalgam of noticing, listening, conversing, reading, discerning, working, playing, and more.
At this moment, I cannot imagine a day where I do not sit down to write a post.
It continues to hone my skills, help me to process and think, and it is fun.
I’m grateful for the questions that opened the door to reflect, and I’m grateful that I get to sit down again, today, and write.
I’m curious, what is a timely and reflective question that has come your way?
