If The Goal Is Right

If the goal is right …

David Round, of beautiful William Hannah notebook fame, reminds us that the pathway to achieving a goal truly doesn’t matter as long as we are chasing the right goal.

At this time of year we are bombarded with methods, strategies, tools, tips and hacks about how to achieve that goal. It can be relentless and overwhelming.

We often turn the dialogue inward when things don’t go to plan.

What did I do wrong?

Perhaps if I had done x instead of y …

I’m not disciplined/skilled/[fill in the blank] to achieve my goals!

To the contrary, we tend to underrate our success and move on well before we’ve had time to reflect, and truly appreciate, what we achieved.

We might just find that it’s true: when the goal is right, we will find a way.

All the more reason to be focusing on the right goals this week, don’t you agree?!
