Here And Now
Be in the moment.
Four simple words of advice we receive often.
No doubt because many of us - particularly us thinker-types - struggle to do so. Being in the moment is usually enmeshed with what has been and what is yet to be, and so it is that we spend time reflecting and planning alongside (hopefully) some doing and being.
Author Oliver Burkeman talks of the paradox that exists when we focus on immediacy, letting go of the backlogs of to-do lists, reading piles and the like, and resisting the urge to save things until later. A focus on immediacy actually allows us to do and be more in this moment without losing the relevancy of our history and our plans for the future. They exist because of our focus on the here and now.
I’m curious how a focus on immediacy might shape the week for me, and for you, too.
