Habits Are Hard

Habits are hard.

To start, and to build.

To embed, and maintain.

And, ironically, to let go of.

Yet when we start and embed a helpful habit,

or finally move on from an unhelpful one,

it is worth all the hard work and persistence.

So if the new week sees you

starting

re-starting

practicing

re-calibarating

resisting

a habit, or two,

know that you’re not the only one.

As poet John Dryden wrote: we first make our habits, then our habits make us.

I’m curious, what might you make this week?
