Choosing Surrender

Surrender is a choice,
and sometimes, the best one available.

I got caught in the rain.
I had monitored the forecast.
I was keeping an eye on the sky.

I made a judgement, expecting it to rain today, but not so soon.

Yes, I was aware of the risk and not prepared for the reality.

I surrendered to the reality and I got wet.

It happens.

We are sold the illusion of control with the plethora of data and information in all parts of our work and life. We believe that it will bring us greater certainty in our decisions and actions.

Not always. We will get caught in the rain. We will get wet.

What if we responded with surrender instead of frustration and anger, or lamenting the failure and our lack of control?

Today I chose to surrender to my reality. I’m dry again now, and all is well.

I’m curious when you have chosen surrender as your best response?
