What Can Wait

Most things can wait.

In our busy-as-a-badge, always-on, productivity-focused world, to-do lists and achieving can take centre stage. The pressure leaves us feeling stressed, guilty and constantly behind.

After spending a holiday Monday helping my son with a task we’ve talked about for a while, and discovering some other ‘overdue’ jobs, it is apparent that most of these things can wait.

Most deadlines are made up.
Most of the urgency is created.
Most of the pressure can be released.

Yes, it feels good to cross things off the list and see a job completed after a period of waiting, but our human needs are better met when we recognise what can wait, and then let it.

At the beginning of a new week, I’m curious how you might choose to release the pressure by choosing what can wait.
