Rest Is Doing
Resting is doing.
Wise words from poet Donna Ashworth.
I’ve lost count of those who relay their productivity goals for their holidays.
The long list of things to finish before going back to (paid) work.
The end of year tasks.
The start of year tasks.
The once a year must-do’s.
The domestic administrivia.
Places to be and people to see.
All compiled like a finely tuned set of KPIs and (too) often lacking fun, meaning and connection.
Of course, we’ve all been there, having been conditioned to wear busy as a badge, and to see our lists of things done as a measure of our worth.
What if we were to embrace the words of those like Donna Ashworth instead and to see rest as the vital human need, and accomplishment, that it is?
I wonder how that might change the way we work and live; time to find out, don’t you agree?!
