Reading Magic
To read is magic.
My words, to go with those of author Stephen King’s: books are a uniquely portable magic.
I’ve always been a reader, and in more recent times, I’ve supercharged the habit. The goal - apart from the joy, learning and all that magic - is to reduce unproductive screen time.
And, so it is that there are always books to go to, either for a short dip, or a long, luxurious deep soaking.
Re-reading favourites to reconnect with ideas, stories and the nuance missed the first (or fifth) time around.
New books of favourite authors, or completely random choices which spark fresh ideas.
Non-fiction works that serve as research for my work and writing, or motivate change in the way we work and live.
And, the fiction that feeds my insatiable curiosity and fills me with wonder and awe.
I will only get to read a tiny fraction of the books available, and that is okay. It is more than enough magic for today, tomorrow and a lifetime.
I’m curious fellow readers, where does the magic of reading and books exist for you?
