Make Room For Joy

Have the ‘shoulds’ gatecrashed your holiday party?

They have a habit of creeping into our thoughts and actions.

Perhaps, I should …

… quickly check my email

… do that job before the year ends

… start that new exercise regime

… declutter/fix/re-organise the [fill in the blank]

And more.

I’m reminded of psychiatrist Jean Shinoda Bolen’s advice that when you have “something that nourishes your soul and brings joy, care enough about yourself to make room for it in your life.”

What if we asked the ‘shoulds’ to stand back and allow the ‘wants’ and ‘would like to’   and ‘coulds’ to have some time.

What would it look like to make room for nourishing and joyful things in your life?
