Human Challenge

Diabolical.

Up came the rating on today’s Sudoku puzzle.

It’s a word that could stop us in our tracks, on puzzles and elsewhere.

When we come up against a diabolical-level task, or problem, do we

procrastinate because we don’t have the time or headspace, or

look for the cheat code, or

run - quickly - in the opposite direction?

Of course, most of what we face on a day to day basis doesn’t come with a difficulty rating. Unless we decide to indiscriminately assign one, and then act accordingly as we face a supposed diabolical situation.

Most times though we discover the challenges - or lack of - once we have begun. There is joy to be found when something turns out to be easy. There is a sense of accomplishment that comes from finding a way through a difficult - and diabolical - challenge. There is purpose in diving in, trying and doing the work needed.

It’s almost as though we humans quite enjoy a challenge, or two, don’t you agree?!
