Goodbye July

Goodbye July …

If you blinked you may have missed it, and that would be unfortunate.

It is easy to be swept away by the passing of months, and with it a year in which we had grand expectations … and all of the goals.

I often reflect about how we humans are the only creatures on this planet to have turned time into a calendar, dictating how we spend our moments, and bringing a whole lot of guilt and anxiety about what we believe we should be doing. For most of us, we go about our lives forgetting that these are all human-made concepts.

Things can change when we remember that we have greater agency and options than we realise.

If saying goodbye to July brings disappointment and angst, it may well be a signal to change our relationship with time.

As we close out the month, what if we ask ourselves: within the constraints of our calendars, days, obligations and expectations, how can (will) I be slower and intentional in the month ahead?
