Choosing One

Let them float by …

As I found myself falling into the overwhelm trap of ‘what should I read first?’ I recalled author Oliver Burkeman’s words:

Treat your to-read pile like a river, not a bucket.

With seemingly infinite information vying for our attention, we can find ourselves succumbing to the pressure to do/read/learn/understand it all. It is an impossible feat, of course.

Reframing what to read next as a choice made based on what is coming down the river, helps to keep guilt and overwhelm at bay. It turns the frustration of impossible into the joy of choosing.

This weekend I’m choosing one of the books to read. I’m letting the others float by. How about you?
